We learned the eight head technique to draw the human figure in proportion.
My Drawing Tutorials created a series of videos for people interested in drawing. In this video the instructor gives a structured approach to drawing people in proportion. The technique begins with a straight line. By dividing the line into eight equal segments, each point marks a certain body part. The video goes into much more depth and is very worthwhile for anyone interested in drawing people.
The figure in the middle was drawn by my 12 year old daughter following the instructions in the video. Then she tried the technique on her own. She has been drawing dancers for several years. They have been the theme in many projects; Movie, Computer Program. After watching the video, her dancer was transformed from the young girlish looking dancer in red on the left to the teenager on the right. It was like her dancer grew-up in one day. Amazing!
